Local celebrities wait tables, raise money for cancer society

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - There is nothing like good service. Local celebrities put aside their regular jobs to wait tables for the American Cancer Society Tuesday night.

The annual celebrity waiters event was held at the Fairview Inn in downtown Jackson.

Business leaders, entrepreneurs, politicians, artists, physicians, radio personalities and WLBT's own Walt Grayson, buttered rolls, poured ice tea and served up a delicious meal and dessert.

Jackson native Monta Ellis, of the Golden State Warriors, could not attend Tuesday night but donated a centerpiece filled with team gear. Each centerpiece donated by the celebrity waiters was auctioned off to raise money. The American Cancer Society says this event helps raise money to help with research and to find a cure for cancer.

WLBT anchor Maggie Wade served as emcee.
