JACKSON, MS (WLBT)- The Labor Day weekend means motorists are hitting Mississippi roads and they won't be alone.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol will also be out in full force for the Holiday. Travelers can expect to see a bigger presence of officers across the state. The highway patrol says cutting out distractions and staying focused on driving will make trips safer for everyone.
Cpl. Johnny Poulos, Mississippi Highway Patrol: "If you know you have a destination you want to reach, give yourself plenty of time, get in the car, and enjoy the drive and make good responsible decisions along the way."
The holiday monitoring ends Monday at midnight.
