Shoppers flock to retailers for Labor Day deals

Posted: Updated:

PEARL, MS (WLBT) - No vacation holiday for retailers, but they were happy to clock-in for one of the biggest sales days of the year.

Parking lots and sales floors at Miskelly's and D. Noblin's furniture stores in Pearl were packed.

Customers were enticed by big time mark downs and zero-percent interest rates, which could save them hundreds of dollars.

Several shoppers were out to check out the deals and take advantage.

"Just relaxing... needed some furniture, heard about the sale and decided to come over and see what they had," said Gail Moncure, who was out hunting for deals

"We had over 100 customers that were standing at our door when we actually opened this morning that were waiting to come in," said Alan Vander Haar, of Miskelly's Furniture.

With the current economy providing more questions than answers for retailers, both Miskelly's and D. Noblin's were happy to see a consistent flow of traffic coming through their doors this holiday.
