JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - If you live in Fondren, you're about to see a transformation take place.
Members of the Fondren Renaissance Foundation plan to renovate Cherokee Heights Park. They are breaking ground Wednesday on the $600,000 project, which will include a walking trail, a pavilion, and a playground.
The architect, who grew up in Fondren, said it's all part of the "Fondren renaissance."
"I think it's going to be great," said John Weaver of Weaver Architects. "We have a lot of young families over here, we have older people. It'll give everyone a place to come and hang out, provide some of the amenities so they don't have to get in a car and go."
The project is being funded by grants. Weaver said it will take about five months to complete.
