JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - An amended version of an ordinance discouraging racial and ethnic profiling will be presented to the next full Jackson City Council meeting.
Members of the council planning committee met Wednesday to discuss amendments proposed by the city's legal department.
One of the main issues was use of the term "alien" which opponents would like to change to "foreign nationals or citizens".
Council members voted 3 to 1, with Ward Three's Kenneth Stokes being the lone dissenter, to keep the word "alien" in the document.
The measure now moves to the full council for a vote.
