JACKSN, Miss. (AP) - Judith Lewis has resigned as executive director of Mississippi Public Broadcasting.
MPB Board chairman Bob Sawyer announced Lewis' departure in a statement Wednesday. He says plans will be made to find a new director.
Lewis came under criticism when she decided July 8 to pull the national Fresh Air radio program because of what she considered inappropriate content. The program was restored but in a different time slot.
Lewis was an associate professor of communication at Mississippi College with a background in administering an international food program when she was hired at MPB on Aug. 1, 2009.
Sawyer, in a statement, gave no reason for Lewis' departure.
