TYLERTOWN, Miss. (AP) - Twenty-four candidates have filed to run for Walthall County circuit clerk in a Nov. 2 special election.
The Enterprise-Journal reports that the special election was scheduled after former circuit clerk Pat Ginn Broussard resigned in August and pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact for helping her son Dustin escape from jail.
In Pike County, five candidates have qualified for the Nov. 2 special election for constable after the resignation of Oliver James last year.
Oscar Lamar Cook was appointed as interim constable and is among those running in the special election.
Runoffs, if necessary, will be held Nov. 23.
