VICKSBURG, MS (WLBT) - The National World War II Museum is brought to life in Vicksburg. The museum may be located in New Orleans, but its story tellers traveled to Mississippi to share tales of courage and bravery Friday night.
A few dozen people gathered at the Southern Cultural Heritage building to hear the three World War II veterans describe the American experience in the war that changed the world. World War II is well documented, unlike the Civil War and World War I.
"World War II is not done that way. We've got lots of history and we're taking care of it and we're proud of it. It's the history of this country," said U.S. Army World War II veteran Tom Blakely.
"Children today are not given any history in school. I've got grandchildren that don't know what I did. I think that's important," said U.S. Army World War II veteran Vernon Main.
