RIDGELAND, MS (WLBT) - Lots of shining chrome on our Interstates Saturday, in the name of breast cancer research.
Droves of motorcycle riders took part in the third annual Phyllis Harris Ride for the Cure, in honor of Phyllis Harris, who died of breast cancer in 2006. She's the sister of our News Director, Dennis Smith.
The event is called a poker run. Bikers drove through Rankin County and ended up at "Got Gear" in Ridgeland, making stops in various locations along the way. It raises money for the American Cancer Society.
"Past few years we've raised $10,000 each year. We're hoping to hit at least that, if not more," says John Harris, Phyllis Harris' son.
