Wreck kills Columbia woman, 3 children hurt

SUMRALL, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say a 28-year-old Columbia woman died and three children were seriously injured in a two-vehicle wreck near Sumrall.

According to Lamar County Sheriff Danny Ridge, Michelle Gatlin was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on Mill Creek Loop. The accident was reported at 4:29 p.m. Saturday.

Three children, all under the age of 6, who were in Gatlin's vehicle were injured. Two were airlifted to University Medical Center in Jackson. Rigel said the third was taken to Forrest General Hospital.

The driver of the second vehicle, an unidentified 18-year-old, was taken to Forrest General.

Rigel said the cause of the accident is under investigation.
