JACKSON, MS WLBT) - Here's a sight you don't see everyday.  A mother and daughter riding on horseback down the streets of Jackson.  Their destination?  City Hall.

The horseback riders wanted to invite members of the city council to the Black Stallion Literacy Foundation Program next week at the state fairgrounds.

It promotes the joy of reading and bridges the transition from reading picture books to chapter books.  It features a Vegas-style show with the World Famous Arabian Nights.

Melissa Daniels, the Mississippi Director for the foundation said, "and we bring the show called the Arabian Knights Dinner Show from South Florida comes and brings horses and riders and they'll have trick riding and gypsies and a princess and of course walter farley's the black stallion."

The program is set for Tuesday, September 21st at the Kirk Fordice Equine Center on the Mississippi Fairgrounds.
