Robbery suspects captured

PHILADELPHIA, MS (WLBT) - Neshoba and Leake County authorities put in a full day's work well before noon on Tuesday.  Four law enforcement agencies were involved in a two-county pursuit, which began with a carjacking in Philadelphia, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Donnie Adkins.

Adkins said, two black men approached a woman in the parking lot of the Philadelphia Wal-Mart at about 7 a.m. They then tried to put the woman in the trunk of her car, but were unsuccessful.

While the victim was not injured a total of three suspects stole the woman's vehicle, Adkins said.

Philadelphia Police apprehended two-of-the-three suspects, a male and a female, when they wrecked the stolen car at the Pearl River Resort. A third suspect stole a truck from a casino and led authorities on a high-speed chase into Carthage.

Leake County Sheriff Greg Waggoner said the suspect eventually bailed from the vehicle in a subdivision and was captured by Carthage Police on foot. Waggoner said they discovered a gun where they had been chasing the suspect and linked the weapon to the suspect.

WLBT is awaiting specific details about the suspects from Philadelphia Police Chief Dickie Sistrunk.
