Alcorn St. set to face MVSU

LORMAN, MS (WLBT) - After a week off, Alcorn State returns to the football field to face in-state rival Mississippi Valley.

The Braves opened the season by scoring 50 points in a blowout win over Langston.

That win has given Alcorn plenty of confidence to improve to 2-0 against a struggling Valley team that is searching for its first win of the season against two defeats.

Devils new coach Karl Morgan says Alcorn could be in trouble this weekend.

"Why because I'm very hopeful I think hope is the best thing you can have and I will always be hopeful and we get out there and work and stay the course good things will happen," said Morgan.

"I expect our guys to come out and just play hard if you can get them to play hard everything else will fall into place," said Alcorn St. head coach Earnest Collins.

Saturday's game will be played in Chicago and will mark the 25th year anniversary of one of the greatest games ever played at Memorial Stadium.
