HINDS COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - An autopsy is expected to be performed this weekend on a body discovered Friday night in rural Hinds County.
Authorities believe it is the body of an elderly Clinton woman's who's been missing since Monday.
THE body of a female was discovered by a hog farmer on his wooded property in Edwards around 6:30pm Friday evening.
Clinton Police Chief Don Byington says the clothes are an exact match to the ones 81-year-old Ethel Simpson was last seen wearing.
The man last seen with Simpson, a convicted sex offender, is now in custody.
Thirty-nine-year-old James Hutto was arrested near Auburn, AL while driving Simpson's Mercedes Saturday.
A resident of Clinton, Simpson was last seen leaving The River Walk Casino in Vicksburg with Hutto late Monday night.
Chief Byington says his investigators have questioned Hutto about Simpson.
That information has been turned over to the Hinds County Sheriff's Department, now controlling the investigation.
"Discovered a badly decomposed body as this point, don't know for sure but there will be an autopsy done and we'll be able to determine later if in fact this is Ms. Simpson...", Chief Byington said.
When asked if he had a strong feeling the body was that of Ms. Simpson, Byington replied, "I certainly do."
Right now Hutto is charged with robbing and stabbing a man multiple times in Lee County, AL Friday morning.
On Thursday a member of Hutto's family was found dead in Alabama.
