Pres. Obama to stump in Philadelphia Monday

Posted: Updated:

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is heading to Pennsylvania Monday to raise money for Democratic Senate candidate Joe Sestak.

Sestak is locked in a tight race with Republican Pat Toomey six weeks before the midterm elections.

Democrats see the Pennsylvania race as one that could not only determine which party controls the Senate, but also which way the key swing state might lean in 2012.

Pres. Obama will speak at fundraisers for Sestak and later in Philadelphia he will headline one for the Democratic National Committee.

The White House had backed longtime Sen. Arlen Specter in the primary contest that Sestak won earlier this year.
