BYRAM, MS (WLBT) - As investigators dusted for fingerprints at Brenda Williams Byram home on Berlin Place, she breaths a sigh of relief that her son is alright.

"This could've been a real tragic thing here," said Williams, a single mother of two who has lived in the home for only two months.

Williams left for her Hazlehurst nursing job around 4 AM Monday. Minutes later, her son, Jeremy, 22, heard a knock at the door. Thinking it was his mom, he opened it.

That's when two men burst through the door, took out a gun, and told Williams' son to get on the ground.

"They took his cell phone and everything, so he couldn't have access to the phone," said Williams.

The men also took a TV, a laptop, jewelry, even shoes. Then, they went out to the garage, and tried to steal Jeremy's Mustang. When they realized they couldn't drive a standard, they asked Williams son to teach them, then took the sound system instead.

After a grueling hour and 15 minutes, the men left, with Williams' belongings. Meanwhile, Jeremy's 11-year-old sister was inside the home. No one was hurt.

"I'm just glad my son is here now. We'll get all this other stuff back, but just knowing his life has been spared, that's a real blessing," said Williams.

Williams said, it's a frightening reminder that no matter where you live, you have to be on your guard.

"If you're up, really pay attention to your surroundings," said Williams.

The gunmen are described as two thin, black males in their early 20's. Both were wearing white T-shirts and black jeans.  One was about 5'11; the other was about 6'2.

If you have any information, you're asked to call the Hinds County Sheriff's Department.
