JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A Minnesota man was sentenced to prison for a 2008 armed robbery and shooting death in Jackson.
34 year old Alexander Stovall was convicted in a Hinds County courtroom Monday.
Authorities say on November 9, 2008 Stovall entered a vehicle with three other men, all of whom were headed to purchase illegal narcotics at a Rite Aid on Woodrow Wilson.
Before the purchase was completed, Stovall produced a firearm and shot a Jackson Police officer and Allen Brown. Brown died as a result of his injuries. The officer survived.
Stovall was sentenced to a mandatory 20 years in prison.
