HINDS COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - County leaders received some good news which will ensure the safety of county residents during severe weather.
Hinds County emergency management officials notified the board of supervisors Thursday morning that 50 new sirens should be installed by the end of October.
They anticipate having 40 of the more efficient sirens in place by the end of September, with the final 10 coming next month.
The sirens cost the county $1.2 million, and will alleviate concerns that older sirens in the county were not functional.
