RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

RIDGELAND, MS (WLBT)- There were cheers and tears at the Capitol Body Shop in Ridgeland Thursday.  That's where a 19-year-old cancer patient's wish came true.

"Show me the Chevy...show me the Chevy," yelled by Madison Central cheerleaders as they called out the vehicle of 19-year-old Chris Wheeler's dreams.  It was a fully restored 1987 Chevy Silverado pickup truck.

Wheeler is a senior at Madison Central and he is also battling Burkitt's Lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system.

He's in remission and today he was practically speechless over the surprise.

Wheeler said, "amazing...looks really good.."

Chris' dad was overjoyed as well, "It's been an amazing adventure. Chris is my hero. He's gone through and conquered a lot of issues with his cancer and I tell you what, it's amazing how it brings out the human spirit of everyone here," he said.

The value of the restoration on Chris' truck is almost 15-thousand dollars.  Thanks to the Make-A-Wish foundation, Chris Wheeler is now rolling in the envy of pick up truck enthusiasts all over.
