JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi residents who aren't already registered to vote have until Oct. 2 to get their names on the rolls to cast ballots the Nov. 2 general election.
Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann says the deadline is Oct. 3, but that falls on a Sunday and county offices will be closed.
State law requires circuit clerks' offices to be open 8 a.m. until noon on the Saturday before the deadline. That will be Oct. 2.
Voters who want to register by mail must have their applications postmarked by Oct. 2.
Mail-in registration forms are available at circuit clerks' offices and on the secretary of state's website, http://www.sos.ms.gov.
Eligible military and overseas voters have an extended deadline for voter registration, until Oct. 23.
