SMITH COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A private helicopter crashed Friday in Smith County. It went down in the Mineral Springs community between Taylorsville and Raleigh.
Sheriff Charlie Crumpton tells WLBT News the pilot was seriously injured and was transported by air to University Medical Center in Jackson. The pilot was flying alone and was in the process of spraying chemicals on pine trees when the aircraft went down.
The Bell helicopter is owned by Cahaba Forestry, which has offices in Flowood and in Alabama.
