BALDWYN, MS (WLBT)- A Baldwyn man is headed to prison after pleading guilty to charges stemming from the 2009 death of a state highway patrolman.
Twenty-six-year-old William Francis was sentenced to 40 years in prison with 33 years suspended after pleading guilty to felony fleeing.
Francis is accused of fleeing from Master Sergeant Steven Hood in May 2009 on MS Highway 370 near the Lee/Prentiss County line.
During that pursuit Hood's patrol car ran off the road and struck a tree killing the state trooper.
