JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - We've all heard the old adage, "It takes a village," and the Jackson Public School District agrees.
JPS honored its community partners Tuesday during an awards breakfast at Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson.
WLBT was among the award recipients for its partnership with Poindexter Elementary.
JPS officials said the Partners in Education program, which has been in existence for 32 years, has had a huge impact on the capitol city's education system.
"There are so many unspoken heroes out there, and we like to, as well as we can, recognize them today and let them know we appreciate them," said Rebecca Starling, director of Partner in Education for JPS.
