Drug trafficker sentenced to 60 years

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A drug kingpin receives a lengthy prison term after reaching a plea arrangement with the district attorney.

Thuan Van Tran was sentenced to 60 years for two counts of selling ecstasy. Twenty years of that will be suspended.

According to Madison and Rankin County D.A. Michael Guest, Tran sold thousands of doses of ecstasy and methamphetamine using sources from California, Georgia and Mississippi.

He was arrested in 2008 after selling thousands of dollars worth of illegal drugs to an undercover drug agent on several occasions in Rankin, Madison and Simpson counties.
