Pike County mother charged with felony child abuse

PIKE COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

PIKE COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A Pike County mother faced a charge of felony child abuse Tuesday. 

26 year old Ernestine Lavonda Collins is accused of trying to circumcise her 1 year old son at home Friday.

According to the Enterprise Journal, the child was treated at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center before being transferred to a Jackson hospital.

Deputies were made aware of the child's injuries when they responded to a call for an ambulance.

Collins was being held in the Pike County jail on a 75 thousand dollar bond.
