CANTON, MS (WLBT) – The weather was just right for hundreds to come out and enjoy a day of music and entertainment.
The very first Canton Blues and Soul Festival was held Saturday afternoon at the Canton Multi-Purpose Complex.
Three generations of blues musicians performed before excited crowds.
They included King Edward, Honey Boy Edwards, Grady Champion, Eddie Cotton and Masters of Funk.
Also on the line up were the Bar Kays, The Dazz Band and Midnight Star.
"The community is going to get a fun filled family outing and of course we're going to be teaching them about the music that is Mississippi and that is the blues, and the soul side we can't leave it out," said spokesperson Brenda Willis.
Organizers hope to make this an annual event.
