JACKSON, MS (WLBT) – A bat wielding robber held up a Jackson convenience store Sunday morning.

J.P. D. Officer Colendula Green said it happened at the Shell convenience store in the 4900 block of Highway 80 around 6:30 a.m.

The clerk told investigators she was behind the counter stocking cigarettes when a man entered the store wearing a blue bandana over his face.

She told police that he jumped the counter with an aluminum baseball bat then pushed her down.

The robber took money from the safe before fleeing the store.

The man is described as having a medium complexion about six feet tall, weighing 160 to 170 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a blue hoodie and blue sweat pants.

Police are reviewing the store's surveillance video.
