War Veteran honored in Hinds County

Jackson, MS (WLBT) - A Hinds County hero was honored by the Board of Supervisors during Monday's meeting.  

Corporal Roy Stewart was killed in North Korea in 1951, however his remains were not discovered until 2008.  Since his remains were identified he was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.  Now the World War II and the Korean War Veteran is being recognized by his hometown.

Mamie Brown, who did the research on Corporal Stewart was honored with the "Above and Beyond" Award for her diligence in preparing a resolution in his honor.
