DEKALB, Miss. (AP) - Local officials and labor leaders on Thursday are dedicating the Kemper County Recruiting and Training Center.
The center will train workers for some of the estimated 1,000 jobs created when Mississippi Power Co. builds a new coal-fired plant in Kemper County.
The center is at the site of the former Cleveland High School.
The state Public Service Commission voted in May to allow Mississippi Power to build the Kemper County plant, which would convert lignite into a gas to fuel the turbines that generate electricity.
