RANKIN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A prisoner being held at the Rankin County Jail died Tuesday night of a heart attack.
Sheriff Ronnie Pennington tells WLBT News that 50-year-old Ronnie Thornton was in jail on a $3 million bond for contempt of court.
Thornton had violated a protective court order involving a domestic situation.
According to Sheriff Pennington, the state crime lab conducted an autopsy and determined that Thornton suffered a fatal heart attack.
