JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - With the lease expired on his 2004 Nissan Armada, Gov. Haley Barbour has a new Infiniti to sport around town for his final year in office.
The Clarion-Ledger reports that the 2011 Infiniti QX56, valued at $61,660, is an upgrade from the SUV, which starts at $49,000. The 2-year lease costs about $34,500.
Barbour said the car is leased by the Highway Patrol. He said the car is the same as the one he inherited.
Barbour spokesman Dan Turner said that although the lease is through the governor's office, but the Highway Patrol chooses the vehicle.
Department of Public Safety Commissioner Steve Simpson said the governor's chief security officer most likely picked it out - probably for its size and ability to move people.
