Hooker poses as cop to rob john

Posted: Updated:

FORT MYERS, FL (NBC) - A Florida woman who first claimed to be a hooker is charged with impersonating an officer and robbery.

Lee County deputies were called about a possible robbery Wednesday.

They found Misty Dawn McNeal, 34, frisking a man outside a tire shop.

The 39-year-old victim said he'd been propositioned for sex by McNeal, who told him to go behind the business with her.

When they determined neither of them had any condoms, the man said he told McNeal he was no longer interested, and that's when she pulled out a badge and told him to put his hands up against the wall, according to the arrest report.

The woman asked him if he had ID and took his wallet, according to the victim.

She removed the cash from the wallet and put it back in his pocket.

The victim said he started getting nervous because there were no other officers there, and McNeal allegedly made a comment about her "backup" not getting there.

Deputies say McNeal told the man to walk around the front of the building, but she stopped him again and again went through his pockets, this time taking cash he had in his front pocket.

At that point the deputy saw what was going on and detained both of them.

In all, the man told investigators he lost just under $400.

McNeal allegedly told deputies the badge she had was in her father's old storage shed, and she kept it for sentimental reasons, but when they told her the badge had a name and permit number on it, McNeal allegedly changed her story and said someone named "Gary" had given to her earlier in the day and she had not had time to return it yet.

While robberies like that don't happen every day, neighbors say prostitution runs rampant.

"They're hollering at them or dropping them off, picking them up. They're just constantly out there at all times of the night. It's scary," said neighbor Misty Tambunga.

This is McNeal's 14th arrest by Lee County deputies, according to sheriff's office records.

She's being held in the Lee County Jail.
