"Transformers" crash caught on tape

Posted: Updated:

WASHINGTON, DC (NBC) - Filming on location always presents some challenges, including moments that are not planned for.

The producers of "Transformers Three" found that out in Washington, D.C. Monday.

In one unscripted moment a car being used in the movie car was sideswiped by a real life D.C. police car.

Bystander George Hurley thought it was part of the movie when he shot video of the crash.

"I was just over there filming the scene, and the police car muse have drove through for an emergency or something, and the car didn't see him and they just hit head on," he said afterward.

The real life wreck shut down production for the afternoon.
