JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Thousands of people lined up in cars and on foot Monday and Tuesday to pre-register for low income housing assistance in south Jackson.
The program is known as Section 8, which provides monetary assistance to pay rents or leases, so people can afford decent housing. The renters also have to pay a portion of the rent cost.
Section 8 is a program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, or H.U.D.
The deadline for pre-registration is October 31st.
