JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A national business news website ranks Jackson in the top 10 cities with the highest income growth rates.
Portfolio.com places the capital city 9th among the nation's top 100 metropolitan areas.
25 years of federal income data was used to calculate how income growth compares across the nation.
Most of the cities in the top 10 have one million or fewer inhabitants. Jackson has the lowest population at just under 541,000.
The bottom three cities, Raleigh, North Carolina, Detroit, Michigan and Atlanta, Georgia, have been badly hurt by declining real estate prices and the eroding manufacturing industry.
