JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The judicial race in Mississippi's 13th District will go as planned, based on a ruling in Hinds County Circuit Court Wednesday morning.
Judge Henry Lackey ruled to not interrupt the write-in election which will appear on ballots in November.
Plaintiffs said an appeal is not off the table, but their mission now is to educate voters on the write-in process.
The election is for the circuit judge of Covington, Jasper, Simpson and Smith counties.
The race is reduced to write-in candidates, because the sitting judge, Robert G. Evans died of cancer in July, which was after the May 7th qualifying deadline.
