Women plead guilty to embezzling funds in Yazoo Co.

YAZOO COUNTY, MS - Two women pleaded guilty to embezzlement in Yazoo County after separate investigations by the State Auditor's office. 

Fifty-seven year old Carolyn Coates, the former administrative manager for the Yazoo County Chamber of Commerce, embezzled funds by using the agency's credit card for personal use. 

Coates also opened a business account without the chamber's knowledge or approval.
She was ordered to make restitution of more than $13,000 dollars. 

Former director of the Yazoo County Convention and Visitors Bureau, 43-year-old Karen Smith, used the agency's credit card for personal use. She was ordered to make restitution of more than $58,000 dollars.
