STATEWIDE (WLBT)- This year's deer season opens with a statewide burn ban in effect. That is a reminder to hunters from the USDA forest service.
Archery season for white-tail deer is underway. Forest service officials say hunters should keep in mind that there's a closure order on national forest land, banning all types of fires. Authorities say there are currently several wildfires burning in the Desoto National Forest.
"There's no open burning, period. No campfires, no warming fires, no cooking fires, not even any charcoal grilling fires". About 2500 acres in the Desoto National Forest have been burned by wildfires in the last several days.
