STATE WIDE (WLBT)- Congressman Gene Taylor says it's time for the leadership in Afghanistan to make a new commitment to running a transparent and effective government. Otherwise, it may be time for the U.S. to make a new commitment to leave that country.
Taylor made those comments on Sunday, as he hosted his 19th Annual Academy Day at Southern Miss. The event showcases the nation's military academies to high school students.
"I personally think that Karzai is a crook. I know for a fact that his brother, step-brother, is the biggest dope dealer in Afghanistan. They need to straighten up their act and show that they are worthy of the sacrifices that America is making. And if they don't straighten up their act, then it's time for us to tell them, 'we're out of here'", said Congressman Gene Taylor.
Taylor says another south Mississippi soldier from Gautier is currently clinging to life at a military hospital in Washington.
