MENDENHALL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

MENDENHALL, MS (WLBT) - Mendenhall's embattled police chief has been fired.

WLBT news has learned Bruce Barlow was relieved of his duties after an emergency meeting was called this past Saturday.

Barlow was arrested last Wednesday on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.

According to a report from Simpson County Justice Court, Barlow made sexually suggestive and obscene gestures toward a man and his family.

Barlow was on paid administrative leave because the department is being investigated by state and federal agents for alleged missing money and equipment.

Barlow posted bond and will go to court November 9th.

With Barlow out of a job, Assistant Chief Alexander "Candy" McCullum will serve as interim chief.
