Miss. authorities find burned body in Scott Co.

Posted: Updated:

FOREST, Miss. (AP) - The Scott County sheriff's department is trying to identify a burned body found off a local road.

Sheriff Mike Lee tells WTOK-TV that the body was found Sunday by a passer-by.

Lee says the body is believed to be that of a black woman but the remains were sent to Jackson for an autopsy.

Lee says it could take several days to identify the body.

He says the body was not completely burned, so investigators hope that DNA and fingerprints will lead to the identification.
