RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) - Denbury Resources of Plano, Texas, is planning to drill at least one more carbon dioxide well under the Barnett Reservoir.

The well will be located east of Fannin Landing, which is north of another well completed earlier this year.

A nearby resident called 3 On Your Side with concerns about noise from the wells.

This is the well completed earlier this year to a depth of around 16,000 feet where a commercially viable supply of carbon dioxide was found.

That is really all Denbury Resources, owner of the well has said about it.

The company did say a water separation plant will be built nearby and the well will be connected to a pipeline.

The carbon dioxide is sent to old oil fields and injected to make them produce again in a highly profitable operation.

The original owners of the property where the reservoir was built are collecting the royalties, if they retained their mineral rights.

Rankin County Supervisor Wood Brown confirmed the new well.

"They have told me that they are going to drill another well. It will probably be some time the first of the year." said Brown.

Bill Gillam, who lives near the well site, called 3 On Your Side to complain about the new well.

"The ground rumbles and it's just a constant 24 hour a day noise. And the last time the senior VP of operations, Bob Cornelius, he recommended wearing ear plugs in my own home, to sleep, which, I think that's insulting." Gillam said.

Some dirt work is already underway along Fannin Landing Circle where the new well will be drilled.

We have been unable to contact anybody with Denbury Resources about the operation.
