Accused cop killer arraigned

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The man accused of killing a Jackson police officer in August appeared in Hinds County court Thursday morning. Latwan Smith entered a plea of not guilty to a charge of Capital Murder during his arraignment.

Smith is accused of murdering Jackson police officer Glen Agee. According to police reports, Smith shot and killed officer Agee as Smith was escaping from police custody on the night of August 7.

Smith has also been charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Escape. He remains in the custody of Hinds County Detention authorities.
