RIDGELAND, MS (WLBT)- These days many people think twice before tossing out anything with personal information on it for fear identity theft.
On Friday, residents in the metro area were able to safely dispose of their unwanted documents for free.
You could bring up to ten regular sized trash bags of old papers and receipts to be shredded. Over 165 cars pulled into the Walmart parking lot in Ridgeland to take advantage of the one day event.
Representatives from the Attorney General's Office, Better Business Bureau, and Credability, a nonprofit credit counseling agency, were on hand passing out identity theft prevention material. The event is part of national protect your identity week.
