JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Motorcycles and their riders received a blessing at a church in Jackson.  Bikers with ten motorcycle clubs gathered at New Horizon Church on Ellis Avenue Sunday afternoon.

Each bike was anointed with oil while the senior pastor lifted a prayer for safety and good health for each rider.  The clubs decided to hold the blessing after one of their friends, 45-year old William Lofton, was killed by a distracted teen driver.

"I've got a lot of motorcycle riders in our church.  They have felt like in light of the issues that have happened, like to William Lofton getting killed and others, that there was something else that needs to be done," said New Horizon Church Bishop Ronnie Crudup.

This is the first event of its kind hosted by the New Horizon Church.  Bikers brought their families along to join in the food and fun.
