BROOKHAVEN, Miss. (WLBT) - A teenager is dead and another is in custody after a shooting Sunday night. It happened around seven o'clock on Short Street, in Brookhaven.
Police Chief Pap Henderson says 16 year old Brian Holloway was shot once in the head with a nine-millimeter gun. He was taken to King's Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven where he later died.
Another 16 year old turned himself into police and was charged with murder. He's being held in the Lincoln County Jail and is scheduled to appear before a judge Tuesday.
His name has not been released.
Family of the victim gathered at his apartment Monday during the lunch hour, trying to come to grips with Brian Holloway's sudden death.
"I was trying to raise my son right, it tears me down," said Bryant Little, Holloway's father.
Police have recovered the murder weapon, and are now trying to determine who it landed in the hands of a teen.
Counseling was offered to students at Brookhaven High School, where Holloway was a Sophomore.
