Pearl wants to annex land into city's limits

PEARL, Miss. (WLBT) - The City of Pearl wants to expand it's borders.

The city will present a proposal in Rankin Co. Chancery Court on Jan. 27 to annex 1.8 square miles at its southeastern city limits.

If approved, nearly 1,100 residents and one business would be added to the city's tax rolls.

The area includes the Patrick Farms community and an area that straddles Mississippi 468 and borders the City of Brandon.

Mayor Brad Rogers says the main change would be Pearl Police responding to calls.

Right now, the Rankin Co. Sheriff's Dept. patrols the area.
