JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A cold front is moving closer to the state now which has sparked scattered thunderstorms throughout the morning. With mild and moist conditions ahead of the cold front and cooler temperatures trying to move in behind the front, strong storms will be possible for counties mainly southeast of the Natchez Trace corridor.
These rains could provide a much needed soaking for some with rainfall amounts of 1"-2" possible with the stronger storms. Winds gusting to 50 miles per hour will be possible as well as an isolated tornado. Please have your NOAA Weather Radio on throughout the afternoon and early evening. I'll have the most up to date forecast for you this afternoon beginning at 4pm on WLBT.
