NEWTON COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A warrant was out Sunday for the arrest of a gunman who shot a 20-year-old during a high school football game in Newton County.  Sheriff Jackie Knight said an altercation between two adults sparked the shooting in the parking lot of the Newton High School stadium.

Several shots were reportedly fired around 8:30 Friday night during the Scott Central - Newton High School game.  20 year old Justin Evans of Newton was shot once in the leg.  Sheriff Knight said investigators have identified a 20 year old suspect in the shooting.  The man is believed to be from the Decatur area.

Officials stopped the game between the Tigers and Rebels for a time.  Knight said the shooting had nothing to do with students or the schools involved.
