JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Today is Halloween, but many little trick or treaters took to the streets last night. A number of cities including Jackson, Madison, Clinton and Richland asked residents to observe the spooky day on Saturday.
In metro area neighborhoods children knocked on doors for candy. But many opted out of the Halloween tradition and made their way to liberty park in Flowood instead for the city's kid's night out.
"Don't have to go to all the houses with crime and everything so its just a fun, safe environment for the kids," said Roderick Lofton.
"It's amazing. I think its wonderful its all free. I can't believe this. It's awesome," added Windi and Olivia Case.
It was also a profitable weekend for Halloween stores. Customers lined up to buy props and costumes at party city and spirit Halloween on county line road yesterday.
